8 Look to yourselves, that we lose not those things which we have wrought, but that we receive a full reward.
Examine yourselves…be sure you do not get stripped of your rewards for living a life of habitual sin and accepting others who do the same.
9 Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son.
He who lives contrary to the teachings and commands of Christ Jesus has not God, nor is saved. He who lives according to the commands and teachings of Christ, has both God and Christ.
10 If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed:
If there be anyone who come to you with a gospel that contradicts the true Gospel of Christ Jesus, do not embrace him or receive him into your home or church. Neither pray God’s blessing upon him.
11 For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds.
For if you ask God to bless him, then you will be partaking in his evil deeds and will be punished with him.
The problem is, most people today, do not understand what ‘evil deeds’ mean and what they are. They are evil and deceived themselves, so how can a blind man lead a blind man out of a ditch?
Many professing Christians preach a false gospel. A gospel of convenience, tolerance and relevance is no gospel at all. It deceives, fools and leads the lost into a false sense of security. Kind of like a spider setting up a motel for flies (I saw a cartoon once).
This is a gospel concocted in the conference room of hell. Persecution stokes the fires of revival, suffering hardens and makes the Christian stronger and more dependent on Christ–but a safe and comfortable message lulls the masses to sleep while the enemy slits his throat.
I remember a cartoon I watched when I was a child (I watched a lot of TV, I know…) and it was about a flock of sheep being guarded by a dumb sheep dog. A wolf or coyote tried everything he could to get to the sheep and nothing was working. The more he tried, the more of a beating he received from the dog. He then had an idea. Dress up like a sheep! That did the trick. Not only did the dog think he was a sheep, but he picked up the wolf in disguise and put him “back into the fold where he belonged”! The scheme worked perfectly.
This is the state of the church today as its shepherds are asleep or off having a vacation or something while the wolf prowls amongst the sheep as he pleases. He spreads his lies and half-truths and the sheep, being basically brainless, follow him faithfully.
“If Christ walked the earth today, He wouldn’t cleanse the temple, He would cleanse the pulpit!”
The false-gospel has failed to do anything in the church, but to rot it from the inside out. It has dumbed down the congregation, made Christ into a fool and all but convinced everyone that hell, sin and an angry God do not exist. Instead we get a buddy Jesus wearing jeans, sunglasses and texting you inspirational quotes from Joel Osteen’s Twitter page. You get a god who embraces everyone, regardless of their religion and/or lifestyle and will refuse to send anyone to hell, because hey, we’re all a work in progress, right…?
Hell is a figment of our imaginations and heaven is for everyone! Party-hearty, everyone…God is good and He loves you, even if you drink, smoke, sleep with your neighbor’s wife, gossip about Linda’s addictions down the street and use the church’s prayer-chain as an awesome avenue to “pass along interesting tid-bits”.
Do you know of someone like this? Have I described you?
God has judged against you already. Your only hope is to surrender and beg for mercy–unless of course your god has accepted you for who you are…then you believe you’re good enough and the fires of hell are being stoked for your arrival.
Oh…and no amount of Godspeed will help you out on judgment day.
