WARNING: You Aren’t A Christian If…
Do you think you’re a Christian because you agree with scripture?
Do you think you’re a Christian because you call yourself one?
Do you think a true Christian habitually neglects church?
Do you think you’re a Christian just because you’ve been baptized?
Do you think you’re a Christian even though you don’t feel any guilt over sin?
Watch this video and examine yourself carefully.
15 “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. 16 You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles? 17 Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. 18 A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. 19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20 Therefore by their fruits you will know them.
14 What does it profit, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can faith save him? 15 If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food, 16 and one of you says to them, “Depart in peace, be warmed and filled,” but you do not give them the things which are needed for the body, what does it profit? 17 Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.
18 But someone will say, “You have faith, and I have works.” Show me your faith without your[a] works, and I will show you my faith by my[b] works. 19 You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe—and tremble! 20 But do you want to know, O foolish man, that faith without works is dead?
I John 2:3-6
3 Now by this we know that we know Him, if we keep His commandments. 4 He who says, “I know Him,” and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. 5 But whoever keeps His word, truly the love of God is perfected in him. By this we know that we are in Him. 6 He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked.
I John 3:4-9
4 Whoever commits sin also commits lawlessness, and sin is lawlessness. 5 And you know that He was manifested to take away our sins, and in Him there is no sin. 6 Whoever abides in Him does not sin. Whoever sins has neither seen Him nor known Him.
7 Little children, let no one deceive you. He who practices righteousness is righteous, just as He is righteous. 8 He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil. 9 Whoever has been born of God does not sin, for His seed remains in him; and he cannot sin, because he has been born of God.
No one who is a true Christian continually lives in habitual sin. Murdering in their hearts through lies, rebelling against God’s commands, refusing to submit to those God has called them to submit to (i.e. spouses, pastors, etc.), living lives marked by secretiveness, despising admonition, hurting those in their care, living in selfishness and pride….the list goes on as long as there are sins to revel in. Make no mistake, those who love in these ways are dead in their sins no matter what their lips profess. There has been no regeneration as defined by the word of God. And just as the lives of the truly redeemed show their redemption, the lives of the truly still reprobate shows theirs.
What does your life truly show? I pray you have not practiced deceit to the point that you cannot truthfully even distinguish that. If your sin never keeps you awake at night until you confess it as such to God and the one you have also sinned against, face it…you are as dead as dead can be.
