“Sin is so rebellious it is God’s would-be murderer. Sin would dethrone God and ungod God and replace Him with the sinner. Sin is defiling but it is also blasphemously rebellious.”~John MacArthur

Those who think they are mature Christians because they know theology! Get this shocker from Paul Washer:

“Abstinence from sexual immorality is the most essential and BASIC aspect or requirement of the Christian life. Keeping yourself pure from sexual immorality is one of the most basic and essential thing. IF YOU HAVE NOT MASTERED THIS YOU HAVE NOT EVEN ACHIEVED TO THE FIRST RUNG OF WHAT IT MEANS TO BE A MATURE CHRISTIAN!”

I would add a phrase from Jerry Bridges to that as well…”Vicarious immorality”…what is looked (or also as he says, sneaking glances) at on TV, in movies, what is read in books, articles, magazines (reading about others sexual misconduct, etc), surfing the internet, not guarding your eyes or where your “feet” go…looking at what is immoral, claiming “it is just other people committing the immorality”…no, it is you committing the immoral act, the sin, of vicarious immorality. If you don’t want others to know, then it is immorality you are committing.

A good first line of defense is recalling Proverbs 27:20 “Hell and destruction are never full; so the eyes of man are never satisfied.” As well as Romans 6:21…”What fruit [that is, benefit] are you getting at that time from the things of which you are now ashamed? The end of those things is death.”

Sensitivity to sin & confession are marks of a true believer. The lack of both is evidence that a person may still be unconverted -1Jn1:8-10

We are told by God in His word to make NO provision for the flesh…turn from your sin, cut it off, be mindful of your sin and your propensities for it, and stay away from anything that could make provision for your sin. If you are repentant, you will be aware of your sin against God every day (tender conscience), of what you have been forgiven of (gratitude for His saving grace), of how you are tempted to enter into sin (I Corinthians 10:13 calls it “common”. It is common because it is so commonly found all around us, as well as so common to the sinner). You will be sensitive to what sinfully appeals to you, and you will do anything to stay clear of that and will deliberately decide to NEVER sin against God and blaspheme His grace again in unthinkingly or knowingly sin against Him in those ways again. You will be on guard for the wiles of the devil. And you will keep your guard up! Your feet will not rush to evil and wickedness. You will be aggressive in dealing with your sin and in putting it to death.

Will you fail at times? Yes, we all fail at times. But when we do we quickly confess it to those it affects and to God, and we are sensitive to sin, and we set even more stringent guards for ourselves against further sin. We ask those closest to us for their help. We do whatever it takes to avoid the sin we know crucified Christ. We do not make presumptions upon grace. We never cut ourselves slack. How can we when it cost our Lord everything ? We never take sin lightly…sin is what made it necessary for Christ to die in our place, to satisfy the wrath of God. In that, even the dullest minds and hearts may see that sin is a killer. Repent and continue to repent…confess your sins to God, confess your sins to one another…confess and repent to those your sin has hurt…repent and be saved, live obeying the word of God…growing in the fruits of repentance, seeking to be held answerable with those in your life. Living in obedience to the word humbly in submission to one another, in the whole truth, which is the only thing that sets us free. Your life and the things you do and focus on and talk about as well as all of the things that you do not demonstrate, show the state of your soul to those who know God’s word. And even if they did not, God sees you, knows what is in you, and knows everything that you do and do not do…and even more, He knows what is really in your heart. Only a fool would think otherwise.

Romans 13:13

13Let us behave properly as in the day, not in carousing and drunkenness, not in sexual promiscuity and sensuality, not in strife and jealousy. 14But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh in regard to its lusts.).

Matthew 5:29
If your right eye causes you to stumble, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell.30“If your right hand makes you stumble, cut it off and throw it from you; for it is better for you to lose one of the parts of your body, than for your whole body to go into hell.

1 John 2:16
For everything in the world–the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life–comes not from the Father but from the world.

Galatians 5:16
So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.

1 Peter 4:3

For you have spent enough time in the past doing what pagans choose to do–living in debauchery, lust, drunkenness, orgies, carousing and detestable idolatry.

1 Peter 2:11
Dear friends, I urge you, as foreigners and exiles, to abstain from sinful desires, which wage war against your soul.

1 John 2:16
For everything in the world–the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life–comes not from the Father but from the world.

Luke 3:8

Prove by the way you live that you have repented of your sins and turned to God. Don’t just say to each other, ‘We’re safe, for we are descendants of Abraham.’ That means nothing, for I tell you, God can create children of Abraham from these very stones.

Hebrews 10:26,27

For if we go on sinning willfully after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, 27but a terrifying expectation of judgment and THE FURY OF A FIRE WHICH WILL CONSUME THE ADVERSARIES..

If you do nothing else, do this…take time to watch and really hear and heed the truth found in this video. Eternity is forever, this is only less than 90 minutes…and your soul’s eternity is at stake. Considering that…90 minutes is nothing.

“Hell and destruction are never full; so the eyes of man are never satisfied.”

“What fruit [that is, benefit] are you getting at that time from the things of which you are now ashamed? The end of those things is death.”
