true and false christians

“If you have been saved and yet continue to live in disobedience to the word, you can bet you have never been saved.” Steve Lawson

Brethren, join in following my example, and note those who so walk, as you have us for a pattern. For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ: whose end is destruction, whose god is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame–who set their mind on earthly things. – Philippians 3:17-19

We’ve all encountered them haven’t we? They pose as brothers yet their pattern of life proves them not to be… Paul gives us the remedy: Note them (take heed to them). Be aware brothers, they are enemies of the cross and they will suffer destruction. How do we know them? They set their minds on earthly things.

“If you can sin and not weep over it, you are an heir of Hell. If you can go into sin, and afterwards feel satisfied to have done so, you are on the road to destruction. If there are no prickings of conscience, no inward torments, no bleeding wounds; if you have no throbs and heavings of a bosom that cannot rest; if your soul never feels filled with wormwood and gall when you know you have done evil, you are no child of God.” ~ C.H. Spurgeon

The difference between true confession of sin and reporting of sin is that you forsake them. When you continue to fall back into the same sin, never forsaking it, you’ve not confessed it.

 thats nonsense
“Have you crucified your flesh with its affections and lusts; and not only confessed, but forsaken your sins, all sin in your fervent desires, and the ordinary practice of every deliberate and willful sin in your life? If not, you are yet unconverted.” – Joseph Alleine
The one who says he abides in Him ought himself to walk in the same manner as He walked. ~ 1 John 2:6
Many claim attachment to God but in reality they just love themselves not God. They’re more interested in what’s in it for them than being transformed into Him.

If we say that we have fellowship with Him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. ~ 1John 1:6

No one who abides in Him sins; no one who sins has seen Him or knows Him. ~ 1 John 3:6
 blinded minds

Saying without doing is lying. If you’re “confessing” but not forsaking, you’re not a part of Him. Claiming Christ without walking like Him in practice is walking with the devil while playing the fool. Being Christian requires all not part.

your own god

“A sober warning…OH how I used to sin and be delighted in it, and I had no qualms with the ways of the world! And OH how God takes a wretched, rotten, wicked heart and transforms it! Glory to God alone! Friend, if you’re not bothered by your sin (and you *should* be), then go to Jesus now, repent with weeping as you see in Psalm 51, and trust in the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus alone as the ONLY way that a rotten, rebellious, hypocritical sinner like you or me could ever be forgiven. And Jesus said that all who come to Him will in no wise be cast out – but you must come on HIS terms, friend. Repent of your sins (including your self-righteousness idolatry) and believe on Christ alone!”

is not a relationship

“Sin and Hell are married unless repentance proclaims the divorce.” ~ C.H. Spurgeon

“Remember that the man who truly repents is never satisfied with his own repentance.” ~ C.H. Spurgeon, “All of Grace.”

Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, this he will also reap. For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life.-Galatians 6:7,8

The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace.-Romans 8:6

We know that we have come to know him if we keep his commands. Whoever says, “I know him,” but does not do what he commands is a liar, and the truth is not in that person. But if anyone obeys his word, love for God is truly made complete in them. This is how we know we are in him-I John 2:3-5

He who is often rebuked, and hardens his neck, will suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy. – Proverbs 29:1
