“A thousand men may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you.” Psalm 91:7

As Christians living in the end times, we can’t expect God to protect us from the suffering caused by other men. In fact, we’re told we will suffer persecution for our faith. However, we’re also assured that as God pours out His wrath on the earth, He will spare the church.

One way He can spare is to take us out of the earth during judgment–that’s what he did with Lot. Or, as with Noah, He can float us on top of the trouble around us. In Goshen, the children of Israel were smack-dab in the middle of all the plagues, and God put a sort of covering over the land and none of the plagues hit Goshen, which of course made the Egyptians very mad. Although it was dark in all of Egypt, there was a light over Goshen. The land was protected from the judgment of God.

God wants to protect His people, and today His people are the church. He has a shield over the church to protect her from the wiles of the world. The church is the Bride of Christ, and He won’t allow His be ravished by the devil.

As part of His church, you can be safe from judgment and the stratagies of the enemy. Draw close to God; live under His shield of protection. There’s no safer place to be. It’s a place of rest.
